St Mary, Jamaica — The St Mary police have levelled a series of serious charges against two men following a dramatic shooting incident that unfolded at a wake along Gully Road in Mason Hall.

 

Facing charges of possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, shooting with intent, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony are:

 

Both men are of Gully Road, Grants Town, St Mary.

 

According to investigators from the Port Maria Police, the incident erupted around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 23, when an argument reportedly developed between McFarlane and another man at the wake.

 

Police say a relative of the man stepped in to calm the situation, but was allegedly attacked by Melbourne, sparking a heated physical confrontation. During the clash, McFarlane reportedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and fired multiple shots in the direction of the man.

 

It is further alleged that McFarlane then handed the weapon to Melbourne, who also opened fire.

 

Miraculously, the intended target escaped without injury and later filed a report with the police.

 

A probe was launched, leading to the charges now laid against the two accused men.

 

Investigations continue.
