KINGSTON, Jamaica — Internet services for both business and residential users in New Kingston and surrounding areas were disrupted on Tuesday following an incident of deliberate cable vandalism, Flow Jamaica has confirmed.
In a statement, the company described the damage as extensive and malicious, saying technical teams are actively assessing the situation and working to restore connectivity as quickly and safely as possible.
Danielle Savory, Flow’s senior manager of communications, condemned the act. “This deliberate vandalism of our network infrastructure is deeply troubling, especially during the busy Christmas season when reliable connectivity is critical for businesses and households. It also removes vital support from areas still recovering from Hurricane Melissa. We are committed to restoring service as quickly as possible and urge anyone with information to report it to the authorities,” Savory said.
Flow Jamaica is asking the public for patience while repairs continue and has provided a helpline — 876-922-HELP (4357) — for anyone with information that could assist investigations. Updates will be shared via the media and the company’s official social media channels.
The incident has caused widespread inconvenience, highlighting the importance of safeguarding critical infrastructure, especially during the peak holiday season.
