Kingston, Jamaica — A Chicken Pox outbreak has hit the Hunts Bay Police Station in St Andrew, forcing the postponement of a murder case, the country’s top prosecutor revealed on Monday.
Director of Public Prosecutions Claudette Thompson made the disclosure inside the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston as the matter involving accused murderer Lennox Williams was called up.
Thompson did not provide details about the extent of the outbreak, but confirmed that Williams — who is being held at the Hunts Bay lock-up — could not be transported to court due to the viral outbreak.
As a result, the matter has been rescheduled to April 13 next year.
A comment is being sought from the St Andrew South Police Division regarding the situation at the station.
