PALM BEACH, Florida—Rapper POORSTACY, born Carlito Milfort, has died, with early indications suggesting he may have taken his own life. The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner confirmed his passing, and the Boca Raton Police Department told TMZ he died early Saturday morning in Boca Raton.
A hotel employee told TMZ that POORSTACY was rushed from the property to a local hospital after a medical emergency. He had been staying at the hotel for 10 days, checking in with a woman and a toddler. No one else was reported injured.
While the exact cause of death has not been released, fans flocking to his most recent Instagram post have been expressing sorrow and sharing beliefs that the artist may have died by suicide. Authorities have not confirmed this.
POORSTACY, a rising talent from Palm Beach, gained attention for fusing emo rap, punk rock, and punk rap, carving out a unique sound and building a loyal fan base. He earned a spot on the “Bill & Ted Face the Music” film soundtrack—an album that went on to receive a Grammy nomination.
He also collaborated multiple times with Travis Barker, including on the track “Choose Life,” one of their most notable releases.
