KINGSTON, Jamaica — Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of two policemen on Waltham Park Road, St Andrew, last month.

The accused, 20-year-old Macarius ‘Mackie’ Munroe of Ricketts Crescent, Kingston 13, and Junior Brown, 20, of Seaward Drive, Kingston 11, each face two counts of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of prohibited ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Police said the men were charged on Thursday following their identification in multiple identification parades and corroborating eyewitness statements, after a thorough investigation. A court date has not yet been set.

The victims, Constables Charles Stewart and Jemarey Gordon, were shot and killed on November 13 along 83 Lane, Waltham Park Road during an altercation with several men. Reports indicated that the officers were speaking with the men at a business place when one of the suspects allegedly pulled a firearm and fired multiple shots, striking both policemen in their upper bodies. The suspects then fled on foot.

Munroe and Brown were subsequently named as suspects and taken into custody. The St Andrew police continue their investigation
