WESTMORELAND, Jamaica—A 63-year-old farmer has been slapped with a murder charge following last month’s gruesome killing of a man whose body was discovered with multiple chop wounds in Mooreland Hill.

Charged is Glenroy Campbell, otherwise called ‘Mass Ron’, of Treve Road in the Mango Hall district. Police say he is accused of killing 60-year-old Wayne Robinson, popularly known as ‘Rub Rub’, of Old Road, Mooreland Hill.

According to investigators, Robinson was last seen alive around 10:30 p.m. on October 9. Early the next morning, residents stumbled upon his body behind his house and alerted the police. He had severe chop wounds to the neck and head.

The crime scene was processed, and the body taken to the morgue pending a post-mortem examination.

Following several weeks of investigation, detectives identified Campbell as the prime suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody on November 27 during a police operation at his home.

Police say Campbell was formally charged after giving a recorded statement implicating himself.

A court date is being finalised.
