PM Holness Orders Full Disclosure of Hurricane Relief Distribution

Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness says the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), along with the Ministry of Labour, will soon publish a detailed breakdown of all hurricane relief supplies distributed to every Member of Parliament.

 

According to the Prime Minister, the move will finally settle ongoing claims that the government has been favouring Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) MPs in the allocation of relief items.

 

Holness again blasted what he described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the Jamaican public, stating that the accusations are politically driven and unfounded.

 

He revealed that ODPEM will go a step further by giving the public open access to its inventory management system, allowing Jamaicans to track — in real time — the movement of relief goods into and out of government warehouses.

 

The Prime Minister says the transparency measure will show exactly who received what, and whether any claims of bias can withstand scrutiny.
