Detainee killed in fight at police lock-up in St Mary

The St Mary police are reporting that a detainee was killed on Saturday during a fight with others in custody at a lock-up.
He has been identified as 34-year-old Eraldo Francis, otherwise called 'Nagram', a contractor of Tremolesworth in Highgate in the parish.
According to the police, at about 12:20 p.m., Francis became involved in a physical altercation with other detainees and was injured.
He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police say Francis had been in custody on charges of murder, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
The matter is being investigated by the St Mary Criminal Investigations Branch, the police’s Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau, and the Independent Commission of Investigations.
