ST MARY, Jamaica—Two men are now in police custody following the seizure of three parcels containing a white powdery substance resembling cocaine during a targeted operation along the Tower Isle main road in St Mary on Friday.
Reports are that detectives assigned to the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID), acting on intelligence, intercepted and searched two motor vehicles. During the search of a white Toyota Corolla Fielder, investigators reportedly found the three parcels hidden behind the front passenger seat on the floor.
Police say nothing illegal was found in the second vehicle; however, more than $600,000 in cash was seized after the occupants failed to give a reasonable explanation for the money.
Both vehicles were transported to the police station for processing, and the two men were taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
