A double murder just over two weeks ago and another shooting incident has thrown the community in a state of fear as residents grapple with the challenges brought by Hurricane Melissa.

Subsequent to that, a man was fatally shot in an alleged confrontation with the police on Monday.

He has since been identified as 21-year-old Jodane James, otherwise called “Sizzla” of a Salt Spring address.

Reports are that the police were executing a warrant when they saw a man with a firearm, which he pointed at the lawmen.

The man was shot and succumbed to his injuries at hospital.

Following these developments, a 48-hour curfew has been imposed in sections of the community.

The curfew began on Tuesday, December 2 at 6:00 pm and will remain in effect until Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 pm.
